Fun Projects at TIEGERMAN Elementary School

For the month of February, the 6th grade students in SA1 celebrated Black History month and were asked to complete a poster on an influential African American. The students were asked to research the influential person’s early life, education and jobs, why he/she is famous, the obstacles they overcame and how he/she has changed society of influenced their life.  We are so proud of all of their hard work!

SA2 had a representative from the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation present a live zoom session for our class to teach us about identifying animal skulls that the DEC has collected for research over the years.

She showed us real examples of animal skulls (deer, raccoon and pig) and introduced us how to identify these animal skulls based on the different characteristics of the animals (i.e., teeth, eyes) of the skull.

The representative from the DEC lives in the Adirondacks and was also able to share her trail cam with us and teach us about the different animals she has seen on the cam. SA2 had a great time learning about skull and animal identification during science class!
