March 30th lettter

Dear PS 2 families,

Hope you are all doing well! We have posted our lesson plans and the materials that go with them for the week of March 30,2020 - April 3, 2020. You can find the activities/visuals on a file labeled for that day. For example, Monday’s activities will be in the file Monday, March 30. All of our lesson plans are separated by subject Math, Literacy, Science/Social Studies, Fine & Gross motor and Play. You can find the lessons plans in a file named Lesson Plans 3.30.2020-4.3.2020. Videos for the lesson plans will be posted daily. For example, Monday’s video will be posted Monday morning by 8:30 AM.

This week we will be reviewing various skills that we have learned throughout the year (counting, letter recognition, patterns, shapes, weather, etc.)  These are all skills that your child has learned.

If you have any questions on completing or accessing any of the activities please let us know. We are always checking our emails to provide any help that you may need.

Dear Parents,

We hope that everyone is doing well.  We miss the children so much!  On Monday, we will be calling all of you to retrieve your updated email addresses and check in on our students.  Please make sure to continue to use the packet that we sent home on Friday, March 13th (or mailed if your child was not in school).  On Monday, March 23rd you should be up to Day 6.

To remind you, the week of March 23rd, we will be reviewing police officers, postal workers, doctors, teachers and dentist.  In the outline, in the front of the packet, you will see the activities we suggest for each day such as reading a story, finding items around the house, doing various gross motor activities as well as completing the packet.  As you will see, in the packet we have included tracing lines, counting and coloring various items, a review of writing letters that we have learned as well as a review of some sounds.  You will also find a review of the various tools of the various community helpers.  If you have any questions while completing the packets, please do not hesitate to reach out to either one of us via email.  We are here to help you at this difficult time.

Here are some websites that have great activities for you do to with your child:

  1. Singingwalrus.com:  The children love the “Hello Song,” “Good Morning Song,” “Action Song,” “Days of the Week Song,” and “Months of the Year Song.”  A nice calming song is, “Beautiful Day!”
  2. Storylineonline.com: This site has various celebrities reading different books.
  3. Starfall.com: If you go to “seasonal” and click on the calendar you can review calendar skills with your child.   If you go to the letter blocks, you can review the various letters and sounds.
  4. Abcya.com:  Under the Pre-K category, there are great math and word games that can review skills we have learned.  The children love the “make a pizza” and “make a cookie/cupcake game” under the skills section!  This works on them requesting various items and identifying them.

We would like to suggest that on a nice day you go for a walk in your neighborhood or on a scavenger hunt.  Search for something red, something blue, something green, etc.  Look for letters and numbers outside!  Count the trees, count the cars, etc!  This is a great way to identify colors, shapes, letters and numbers while making it fun!

You can play with chalk (if you have) with your child and have them practice writing their name, letters, shapes and identifying colors 

If you need to reach us for any reason at all,
