Week of December 9th, 2019

Last week we learned all about Hannukah. We started by learning the story of Hannukah, then we sang “One Little Candle” by Janice Buckner, as I turned on the lights on our electric menorah. They also looked at a silver menorah with the candles in it. Then we made our own menorahs out of construction paper. We read “Hooray for Hannukah”, “Our Eight Nights of Hanukkah” and “This is the Dreidel”, just to name a few! At learning centers we made Maccabee shields, played dreidel bingo,  used Hannukah cookie cutters with play dough, built menorahs out of blocks, and threw bean bags onto a menorah drawn with the numbers from 1-8, throwing the bean bags on to the numbers in order. We also did a beginning sounds with holiday items, and patterns with Hannukah items.

We were lucky enough for it to snow a little, and we brought in snow from outside to play with in our sensory table – the children loved it!

This coming week, we are very excited about our upcoming show on Thursday, December 19th at 10am.

I will not be in school on Friday, December 20th as I am having surgery and I will have the two weeks of vacation to recover at home over the break. I have told the children I have a doctor’s appointment, as to not scare them.
