Week of October 21st, 2019
Pumpkin week!
This week we learned all about pumpkins - the life cycle and the parts of the pumpkin. We played a pumpkin letter game, a pumpkin shape matching game, and a same or different pumpkin game. We ended the week with an experiment - we made predictions to see if the pumpkin would sink or float.
We read "Perfect Pumpkins", "I Like Pumpkins", "Pumpkin Town" "Pumpkin, Pumpkin", and "Picking Apples and Pumpkins"
We learned the letter k and l this week. We pretended to do karate, fly kites and to be lions (the children were great at roaring!)
To get ready for Grandparents/VIP day we learned songs about families, and love. We read "Llama Llama Gram and Grandpa" and made a big list of all the fun things we like to do with our grandparents.
We did some water color painting and easel painting this week, we played with moon sand in the sensory table, and we pretended we were in a farm stand, buying and selling apples and pumpkins on the farm. We took turns to be the farmer and customers. The farm stand will be there for the next two weeks as we will be discovering farms the week after next.
Next week we will be learning about, and doing activities related to Halloween.
I am sending home a note about guest readers - if you would like to come in to read, please send the reply back as soon as you can. We always welcome parents to come in and read, do an activity, etc.
