Press Release for Tiegerman’s 20th Annual Chefs for Children Food & Wine Tasting

GLEN COVE, NY, October 12, 2023 – Tiegerman's annual tradition of culinary decadence, its 20th Annual Chefs for Children Food and Wine Tasting was held on Thursday, October 5, at The Inn at New Hyde Park. Guests enjoyed cuisine from more than 25 restaurants showcasing their best fare alongside beverages and confectioneries to complement an extraordinary tasting experience. Honoree Sherry Algredo was recognized for her advocacy efforts and Louis Marrone, a member of Tiegerman’s 2024 graduating class, shared his impressive journey as a Tiegerman student. A highlight of the evening was the more than 75 prize baskets that were raffled off. Many thanks goes to major sponsors The Ficalora Family Foundation, Flagstar Bank, and The Ellenmorris & Joseph Farber Charitable Foundation. All proceeds from the evening benefit Tiegerman’s extraordinary children and adults with language and autism spectrum disorders.

Tiegerman opened its doors in 1985 to support the needs of children with language disorders. Now, 38 years later, the organization has grown substantially and serves more than 600 children ages 3-21 in 5 school locations. In 2012, Tiegerman Community Services was established and expanded the agency’s scope to assist more than 150 adults with developmental disabilities and autism spectrum disorders lead productive and successful lives. Tiegerman provides a lifecycle of services including educational, community, vocational, day habilitation, supportive employment, community habilitation, respite and residential services for individuals and families on Long Island and in the five boroughs.
