CURRICULUM
In order to ensure that our preschool students are engaged in meaningful and appropriate learning activities that will prepare them for their elementary academic experiences, our curriculum and instruction are aligned with the New York State Prekindergarten Foundation for the Common Core. These learning standards help teachers to identify the knowledge and skills that students are expected to attain by the end of preschool.

With a thorough understanding of expected learning outcomes, our teachers are able to design rich, challenging activities and to identify the accommodations and supports needed for each student to participate in these activities. All lessons and activities are theme-based and designed to develop critical language and academic skills.

FAMILY INVOLVEMENT
We are thrilled when families are active in our Grandparents/Special Friends Day, book fair and our many performances throughout the course of the year. All parents are encouraged to join the Parent Teacher Friends Association (PTFA).

BEYOND THE CLASSROOM
We focus on the whole child. We enhance our students’ experiences through activities, which have included visits from Sparky, the NY Islanders mascot, puppet shows, magicians and a presentation from the Apollo Theater. Students learn about the environment and their community by hosting visits from various community organizations and guest visits from authors of children’s books.
