TIEGERMAN RE-LAUNCHES MIDDLE SCHOOL
IN NEW GLEN COVE LOCATION
Students to Give New Life to Historic ‘Coles School’ Building
GLEN COVE, NEW YORK – July 10, 2019 Area residents with fond memories of the Coles School will see their beloved school revitalized with the re-opening of this historic building as the new location of Tiegerman Middle School on July 15, 2019. First constructed in 1928, the Coles school building is named for the Glen Cove family with deep ties to the earliest New England colonies and the history of Glen Cove. Tiegerman is proud to be a part of this tradition and to be carrying forward the educational legacy of the building.
Tiegerman Middle School students will arrive to their newly renovated school on Monday, July 15th. The building will be the new “second home” to approximately 150 extraordinary 6th through 8th grade students with developmental and autism spectrum disorders.
Several exciting events and opportunities have been planned for the school. The community is invited to join Tiegerman for a celebratory ribbon-cutting for the new building on September 26th. There will be an opportunity for the residences of Glen Cove and surrounding communities, local businesses, and Tiegerman friends and families to be a part of the Coles School legacy by paving a path to students’ success with personalized bricks to be placed in front of the building. New trees and other new landscaping features have been generously donated to the new school by TD Bank through their TD Tree Days program. The trees will be planted by TD employee volunteers on September 18th. In addition to the educational staff coming with students to the new building, Tiegerman is searching for additional positions for dynamic teachers with special education certification and experience that includes grades 6 – 8 as well as caring, energetic teacher assistants.
