COVID-19 Relief Fund
Dear Friend,
In the last few months, our world has changed in ways we could have never imagined. People have lost their jobs, children are home from school, family members are getting sick, and there is an overwhelming feeling of uncertainty. Over 78% of the population we serve at Tiegerman are minority families who live in New York City and metro areas, the hotspot of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since we have been dramatically hit by this Coronavirus, it has taken a tremendous toll on our families, emotionally, mentally, and socially. As this pandemic continues, we are learning how this crisis has disproportionately affected our students and their families, and we are working hard to eliminate new obstacles that stand in the way of their education and development.
We are in urgent need to support our community now more than ever, while doing everything we can to continue to provide our individuals with the education and services they thrive on. Over the past few weeks, our community has come together through alternative channels, such as virtual classrooms, and at-home teletherapy. However, now we need set our focus on what is next; In the near future, schools and workplaces will reopen, and it is vital that we do so safely.
To support our current virtual needs and our return, we need:
- Support the ongoing development of online learning and teletherapy
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) - 20,000 masks, 15,000 gloves (initial quantities that will last a couple of months)
- 150 iPads, 50 Laptops and additional video equipment for our remote learning
- Upgrades to our wireless network infrastructure
We are asking for support to aid our children and families during this critical time. As you know, the Tiegerman community is strong and vigilant. While the foundation of our organization was formed through language and communication development, it has been fortified by the people it is built around. We strive to substantively change the lives of our individuals in order to help pave a bright future for every person we encounter. We are more than a school or a community-based program, we are an organization that provides opportunities and resources to incredible families. We could not accomplish the goals that we set if it was not for generous supporters like you.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Dr. Ellenmorris Tiegerman
