Tiegerman Transition/Reopening Documents

Dear Tiegerman Family,

We hope you all enjoyed your Labor Day weekend.  Tiegerman would like to take this opportunity to welcome back our UPK and Preschool students.  Tuesday, September 8th, 2020, was the first day of in-person instruction for our UPK and Preschool students in Glen Cove and our staff is very excited to see our students back in the physical space!

Tiegerman’s in-person programming for our Tiegerman Elementary School (Grades K-5), Tiegerman Middle School, Tiegerman High School and Tiegerman School at Woodside were supposed to begin on Thursday, September 10th, 2020.  As previously communicated, NYC Public schools announced that they will be starting in-person learning on Monday, September 21st, 2020, thereby, delaying the start of transportation until that date in time (Monday, September 21st).

As of today, Wednesday, September 9th, 2020, Tiegerman has still not heard anything definitive on the initiation of transportation services for our students.  After taking some time over the weekend to consider our options, Tiegerman has determined that we do not want to wait any longer on transportation.  While the 21st of September is supposed to be the date that transportation begins for our students, concerns have risen regarding the possibility that NYC Public schools might delay their start date again.  This is why we have decided to offer in-person instruction (if you chose in-person learning) in all of our programs starting on Monday, September 14th, 2020.  Tiegerman recognizes that without transportation, bringing your child to and from school every day will be very inconvenient.  However, we wanted you to know that we are ready to meet the needs of your children in the physical space on Monday, September 14th, should you wish to bring them to school.  Families, please do not worry if you are not able to bring your child into school on Monday, September 14th.  Your child will remain in Tiegerman’s Remote Programming until his/her transportation begins.

Families that choose to transport their child to school starting Monday, September 14th, we ask that you reach out to your building Principal as soon as possible to alert them that you are planning on bringing them in as well as to familiarize yourself with arrival/dismissal health-safety procedures.  In addition, families that choose to transport their child to school by means of mass transit (prior to transportation starting), please contact your building Principal as the Department of Education recently forwarded us Metrocards that we will offer to you to transport your child to school.  Should you have any questions or concerns regarding this communication, please do not hesitate to contact your building Principal or an administration team member.
