I am Mr. Kriz, the Physical Education and Health teacher at Richmond Hill. I am also the COSA Athletic Coordinator and co-run our very successful Sports Intramural program.
Physical Education by definition is: systematic instruction in sports, exercises, and hygiene given as part of a school or college program.
Essentially through the means of sports and physical activity, students learn valuable lessons and skills applicable to everyday life. From social skills, to personal responsibility, to how their body functions. Students continuously learn, practice, and apply during various class exercises and activities.
Health by definition is: soundness of body or mind; freedom from disease or ailment
Health Education by definition is: Health education is any combination of learning experiences designed to help individuals and communities improve their health, by increasing their knowledge or influencing their attitudes.
It is important for all humans to take care of their bodies, in order to remain as healthy and functional as possible. It is very important to know how to prevent our bodies from disease, as well as what can we do in order to heal our bodies. Health also embodies the knowledge and provides skills that are needed to make; good choices, manage our lives, and communicate with those around us.
