Tiegerman Preschool at Far Rockaway

In July 2024, staff and students celebrated Tiegerman Preschool at Far Rockaway's first anniversary of its opening. Staff created a "40 Reasons Why I Love Tiegerman" video. On July 17th, staff and students also enjoyed a visit from a Mister Softee ice cream truck and celebrated with a school spirit day. Staff and students proudly wore Tiegerman's school colors.

In August 2024, every student in the school decorated a rock for the school's new rock garden. This will become an annual tradition. The rock garden will be unveiled in the spring of 2025.

In September 2024, the school unveiled a new Reading Nook on the second floor of its school building. The reading nook is filled with picture books, sensory items, and a small table and chairs. The space is dedicated to Dr. Ellenmorris Tiegerman, Founder and CEO. This special addition also honored National Literacy Month.

In October 2024, all students pumpkin picked on the school playground. Pumpkins were assembled in the number 40. In addition, the school hosted a pumpkin decorating contest amongst all of the preschool classes. PS 6 honored Tiegerman's 40th Anniversary!

In November 2024, every student in the program decorated a small canvas, which will be hung up proudly on the school's walls. Students created a design in order to demonstrate their thankfulness for Tiegerman. Students decorated a Tiegerman T or the number 40. PS 2 combined all of their students' canvases to create a large piece.

In December 2024, a new mural dedicated to Tiegerman's 40th Anniversary was unveiled to the school community. It was created by Allison Fleming (PS Teacher) and Kristina-Rae Lawrence (Teacher Assistant).
