Learning Objectives: Week of 10/21/19

Math: Proportions Unit: We will determine whether quantities are proportional or non-proportional by using tables and cross multiplication. We will then solve similar figures using proportions.

ELA: Argument Writing Unit: After reading pro/con articles about Christopher Columbus, we will write our own argument writing on the topic: Should we celebrate Columbus Day?

           Key terms: claim, evidence, counter-argument, rebuttal, conclusion

Reading/Writing: We will read pro/con articles and analyze the authors' arguments.

           Key Skills: highlighting, restating, key details

Science: Geology Unit: Earth's layers, tectonic plates, and what causes earthquakes and volcanoes.

Social Studies:  Native American and Early Encounters Unit: The after-math of Columbus, the Age of Exploration.
