PS 3

Course Description

Welcome to PS3! Your child's teachers are Mrs. Kalafatic and Ms. Porter. Your child's TA's are Ms. Monica and Ms. Ashley. This year we will be learning about various topics throughout the year based on fun, thematic units. Our lessons are based on the NY State Common Core Learning Standards. We provide hands-on, interactive lessons and activities while supplementing learning through play. We incorporate language into each aspect of our day. We will also be starting a literacy program called Fundations where your child will learn the letters of the alphabet, the sounds they make and how to write the letters. Please check our site weekly for our Newsletter so you can see the fun things we will be learning! In addition, please check your child's notebook daily and feel free to write to us at any time. We are excited for a new year and to see the wonderful progress each and every student will make! 
 

¡Bienvenido a PS3! Los maestros de su hijo son la Sra. Kalafatic y la Sra. Porter. Los TA de su hijo son Ms. Monica y Ms. Ashley. Este año aprenderemos sobre varios temas a lo largo del año basados en divertidas unidades temáticas. Nuestras lecciones se basan en los Estándares de aprendizaje básicos comunes del estado de Nueva York. Brindamos lecciones y actividades interactivas y prácticas mientras complementamos el aprendizaje a través del juego. Incorporamos el lenguaje en cada aspecto de nuestro día. También comenzaremos un programa de alfabetización llamado Fundaciones donde su hijo aprenderá las letras del alfabeto, los sonidos que hace y cómo escribir las letras. ¡Visite nuestro sitio web semanalmente para obtener nuestro boletín informativo para que pueda ver las cosas divertidas que aprenderemos! Pay close attention to the order of events in the story. What events happened in the beginning of the story? What events happened in the middle of the story? What events happened at the end of the story?

Monday 5/4 Science Video

This video explains what living and non-living things. You will also learn what living things need to survive. Follow along with your activity packet and worksheet. See how many living and non-living things you can find at home!

Thursday 5/7 Math Video

This video discusses what the words EMPTY and FULL mean. After the video, have your child complete the worksheets in the activity packet. Practice EMPTY and FULL with them at home.

Tuesday 5/5 Social Studies VIdeo

This video is about all the things mothers do for us. After the video, read the booklet from the activity packet with your child and discuss the things that mothers do for their children.

Specials Schedule week of May 4th

This schedule provides the days your child typically attends specials such as gym, art, music, library/technology. Follow this schedule to provide your child with resources provided from the specialist teachers. Click on the link during the assigned day and have your child engage in an activity that is related to the class.
