Living Environment 10th Grade (Period 3-HR10)

Course Description

Welcome to Living Environment class! I have been teaching here at Tiegerman for the past 6 years, and am excited for another school year!  Living Environment covers and reviews the fundamental principles of biology. It is a 1.5 year course, ultimately preparing students to take the regents in January of 10th grade.  We will cover the following topics in Living Environment:
  • Intro to Biology/Scientific Method
  • Ecology
  • Human Impact on Environment
  • Cells
  • Cell Division
  • Genetics
  • DNA/DNA Replication
  • Evolution
  • The Human Body

Monday, October 7: DNA paper model lab (students will construct DNA out of paper pieces cut out on Friday)

Thursday, October 10: Students will complete a nearpod about DNA replication.
Friday, October 11: Students will continue their nearpod about DNA replication

Monday 9/23: Students will complete a worksheet on mice practicing filling out punnett squares.
HW - regents hw #3 due Sept 27 (posted under assignments)
Tuesday 9/24: Students will review for their quiz on punnett squares
Wednesday 9/25: Students will take a quiz on punnett squares
Thursday 9/26: Students will complete a station activity where they learn about different genetic disorders and answer questions on each disorder.
