You will be using the notes that we have been taking on Character, Theme, Plot, Setting, Narrator and Voice to complete the quiz on April 4th (please note, the questions that you will be asked will be BASED on the notes, which means you will need to reference them in order to answer the questions- you are not simply copying definitions). You should be reviewing your notes each night to help you prepare more for the quiz. We will do an in-class review on Wednesday, April 3rd.

Make-Up Work

Any missing portfolio work MUST be completed and handed in no later than Monday, April 8th. (We are doing portfolios on Tuesday, March 26th, so you will have a chance then to see what exactly is missing.)

Essay Test- THURSDAY!!!

We will be working on the outline in class using the articles you read last week as homework.

Your essay will be written in class on Thursday. You will be scored based on how well you use the texts, the organization of your essay, the structure of your paragraphs, and how well you use grammar, spelling and punctuation.

In-Class Essay Test 3/21

This week, you will be reading one article per night from the Regents exam. As you read, you should be underlining and recording supporting detail sentences (like we have done in class). You will use these articles to help you complete the outline in class next week. You will use the articles PLUS the outline to help you write your essay on March 21st IN CLASS. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU COMPLETE THE READINGS EVERY NIGHT.

Essay Test

  • There will be an in-class essay on Thursday, March 21st.
  • Students will be given another set of articles from a past Regents exam.
  • Each night next week (March 11-15) students will be responsible for reading one article and independently identifying textual evidence for the "yes" or "no" side. These will be collected every day to be checked over.
  • The following week (March 18-22), we will work in class on an outline (each student is responsible for choosing their argument), which will be used for their test on March 21st. They will be scored using a rubric that has been based on the actual Regents Part 2 rubric.
  • Each day an article is not turned will be counted towards their final test grade.
