Under the assignments section, you will find the assignments and attachments for the week of May 4th. We have attached the weekly lesson plans.

Students will read the poster on how to simplify fractions. Students will then watch the Math Antics video attached to the Nearpod. Students will read and look at various examples. Students will then complete worksheet by circling the common factors between the numerator and the denominator and using the GCF to divide and simplify the given fraction. Limited problems will be provided for those that need it.

Students will complete the layers of the Earth quiz on nearpod. Students can go back and watch previous videos for help. Students will fill in sentence frames with the correct key term from the word bank. Students will then follow the directions to label and color the layers of the Earth for assessment.

Students will watch the video on how to subtract mixed numbers and read the steps on the poster provided. Students will look at examples given. Students will then complete worksheet by shading in the models to represent mixed numbers, then subtract the mixed numbers together. Students will subtract the fraction first, then subtract the whole numbers to write a mixed number as the difference.

Students will review and recall the definition of a mixed number. Students will look at various visual slides and will write the mixed number on top of the visual that matches the amount given. Students will then shade or color the shape to match a given mixed number like 51/2 on slides 9 and 10. Students will read a real world problem aloud and will the question and key terms. Students will then write the mixed number that solves the problem on slide 11.

Students will read the definition of a mixed number on the Nearpod. Students will watch the video What is a mixed number?. Students will then write the answer to a an open-ended directive and question write a mixed number. “Why is it considered a mixed number?” Students will complete a worksheet by writing or typing a mixed numbers for the colored shapes. Students will then complete a second worksheet by writing a mixed number for each visual provided.

Students will answer a prior knowledge open ended question and read or listen to the slides that describe and define the layers of the Earth. Students will then write a sentence describing why the crust is important. Students may just list things on the crust instead. Students will complete quiz questions/watch the video to review and complete a fill in the blank activity using key words about the Earth’s layers on slide 20.
