Tiegerman School at Woodside Remote Learning Program Overview:

Hello all Tiegerman School at Woodside Parents,

I hope that you and all of your family is safe during this hectic and unprecedented time.  I wanted to contact all of you to let you know that we are actively working to ensure all of our students will be receiving educational materials through Tiegerman School at Woodside’s Remote Learning Program, beginning on Monday, March 23rd

As part of the Remote Learning Program, beginning on Monday, your child’s teacher will be e-mailing you their Nearpod lessons, student objectives, and Common Core Standards that the lesson addressed.  You can download the Nearpod app for free, or go to www.nearpod.com to view these lessons once the teacher e-mails you the access codes for the day (both the app and website work with computers, tablets, and internet compatible phones).  The teachers are preparing daily lessons in Math, Science, English, and Social Studies and you will be receiving the access code for these lessons, every morning.  In the event you do not receive an e-mail, you may also check the Tiegerman website (www.tiegerman.org) and go to your child’s teacher’s webpage for the access codes for that day’s lessons.  If you are unable to access Nearpod, another option for your child would be to complete the two week packet for Math, Science, English, and Social Studies, that is posted on their teacher’s Tiegerman webpage, or you can ask the teacher to e-mail the packets to you.

In addition, teachers will be reaching out to you weekly, on Tuesdays, to check in and provide further instructions about the Remote Learning Plan for next week. Please note that teachers now have email access to communicate with you should you have a question about an assignment. In order to take Attendance on a daily basis to ensure that students are engaged and have access to the materials, please confirm with your teacher, daily, that you have received the daily e-mail and that your child will be participating in that day’s lessons. Please let the teacher know, when they call or via e-mail, if there is a time on Tuesday that would work best for you, and they will try their best to accommodate your request.

You will also be contacted by your child’s related service providers, by Wednesday of next week (if you have not heard from them already).

Please, during this time of uncertainty, be patient with all staff.  We have all been trying to navigate what will work best for our students and staff.  We understand that not all families have internet access, tablets, computers, and printers, but we will try our best to make accommodations.  We also know that there was an e-mail sent to families to request devices during this time.  Please note that the request for a device is a program New York City is running, not Tiegerman School.  If you would like to request a device, please have your child’s OSIS number available.  If you are experiencing further difficulty, please contact the City’s help numbers (if they were provided).

We will continue to keep you updated, as much as possible, regarding your child’s education, services, etc.

Again, please stay safe.

Sincerely,

TWS Administration
